This note welcomed me home today. If you can’t read what it says, here is the text:
“I’m so sad because I’m sitting here with nothing to do. I wish someone would put me to work for my intended purpose. Oh look! Someone has marked two cookbooks with potential jobs for me. Maybe the resident bakery chef will choose one and I won’t be sad anymore.”
That’s right, my cake holder (with some assistance from my Dad) has informed me it wants to be put to use. Guess I know what I am doing this week!

It has taken me awhile to write this post. I still don’t know if the time is right, but here I am.
Probably the biggest event that occurred in June 2010 was that I filed for divorce. That is right. Divorce. I have become something I never thought I would become. I have done something I never thought I would do. I am becoming a statistic. Just another number used to create the percentage of how many marriages end in divorce in our country today.
Right now is not the time for me to go into the “whys” of the divorce. It is a conversation that the Husband and I have had multiple times, over and over until there is nothing more to say. I am not a perfect person and nor is he. But it takes more than just imperfections to bring a marriage to an end. It takes time, effort and energy. Just like building a relationship requires work, so does destroying one. But the thing is, you don’t realize that you are working at all. You don’t realize the impact your words and your actions have. You take the stability, the tolerance, the acceptance for granted.
Yes, we tried counseling. Yes, we tried to talk it out. Yes, we tried to make it work. But it didn’t. We found ourselves past our expiration date. Gone sour. Gone bad.
Thankfully, we were able to agree on our own terms. We made parting as easy as such a thing could be. Which still is not easy. But at least it is agreed. Signed. Filed. And waiting for the 60 day waiting period to be over with.
Waiting until I officially become a statistic.

I finally got some company on the bench!

Sitting alone on a bench while everyone else is paired off playing. I’m worn out from the humidity. But enjoying the shade!
