Still cable-less, I am blogging from my dear Granny’s house. Yes, she has digital cable and cable internet. What a joyful place! So I contacted Eric from Charter who shot some emails around and got the Construction division in my area moving (Thanks Erin). It came down to two choices: pay Charter $1440 to have cable run to our house or dig a ditch and only pay $750. We are digging a ditch. Actually, my Uncle is digging the ditch. Sadly, that is taking a bit as he is busy building in Lenoir City. But as soon as he gets to digging, I will have cable 48 business hours later. Yeah! Hopefully the ditch will be dug soon… please?

Only in Tennessee: a truck with a license plate duct taped to the gate, a missing bumper and a tree growing out the bottom of the gate. I love living in Tennessee!

My friend, Erin from the Knoxville Bookclub, got married today. It was a beautiful wedding and I was delighted to have a beautiful date, Carrie (also from Bookclub).

A night of sushi at Wasabi (the one by Turkey Creek). The only thing is that it ended up making me sick! Even my friend who ate their the next night got sick. Why do you do this to me Wasabi?

Without further ado and in no particular order, here are a bunch of pictures that I owe you! Sorry if it takes a while to load. And let me know if there are any problems seeing all 40+ of them. It is my first time using the Gallery option in Wordpress.

Today I closed on the house. Yeah! It is all official; it is mine all mine (warts and all).
And because I know you have been missing pictures, here is me sitting at Blount Title Agency ready to legally take possession of the house:

Still no cable and internet. Surprised? Not me. During my most recent phone call I was given 4 different reasons why I do not and or may not ever have cable and the call ended with the suggestion that I should just go down to the local office and see what they think about the situation. Charter, I officially hate you.

Well Charter has informed me that their construction division must run a line from the street to my house underground (as opposed to aerially like it was before it got cut). They said they have no time line for this: it could take a week, two weeks, maybe a month. If it wasn’t for cable internet I would be so gone by now. Don’t you hate monopolies?

It means you don’t get to post to your blog nearly often enough!
Have I mentioned my love of home ownership? Well part of the beauty in buying a home that has a previous address which is different than the current address is that no one can locate the new, correct address. That includes Charter. After calling Charter three times and explaining the situation and getting clarification on my address from the United States Postal Service (the street sign is different from the official address), I will hopefully have cable and internet on Monday. Unless they have to run cable wire (it looks like it has been cut)… then it will be another week or so.
Please keep me in your prayers as I am suffering greatly through these trails and tribulations.

Where have I been? Where has my time gone? What has happened to my life?
Did you know that I have shows on my DVR that are three weeks old? Did you know that I have a Netflix DVD that has been sitting on my shelf for over a month? Can you imagine the number of images on my camera I have yet to download?
I thought I would check in and let you know that I am still alive. Work has gotten extremely busy. Extremely busy. I have been appointed to two difficult cases, one of which has already made an appearance in the local paper. I was not appointed at the time, so no Ashley-in-Ink. I have a preliminary hearing on it tomorrow and if it makes the news, I’ll post a link. Just a warning, it is a tough case to read about.
On the home front, 75% of the main level has been primed. I went back over to the house today to sand some patches down and was delighted to see that Roger has finally framed in the driveway and sidewalk. We have had so much rain and our yard has been so swamped, we haven’t been able to get a driveway. Or water for that matter. While I was hoping to be in the house by the first week of May, that obviously didn’t happen. Right now I will be ecstatic if I get moved in by the last weekend in May. It is hard to work full time and try to get a whole house prepped for moving in. The Family is really pitching in and I appreciate them for that.
Back to prepping for the prelim for tomorrow. Hopefully there will be more 365 Day photos posted this weekend. And more posts!
